Our packaging complies with the three main design specifications that all packaging for explosives supplied to the Ministry of Defence directly or through a third party have to follow.

Wooden Cases- batten and board construction to Def Stan 81-14
Wooden Cases- packing, re-useable to Def Stan 81-71
Wooden Cases- packing, board or panel and batten construction to Def Stan 81-135
Fire retarding treatment to customers’ requirements. United States importation requirements will be met where specified.

Paint Finish

Top coats to Def Stan 80-25 Colour as required or wood preservatives BS 4072- Copper/ Chrome/Arsenic Compositions (not to be used in contact with rubber or light alloys). Treated timber may be stained, painted, varnished or glued. Suitable for protection against insect infestation. BS 5707- Wood Preservative in organic solvent.

Metals used- Steel, Tin Plate, Aluminium, Stainless Steel Non Spark metals and non magnetic metals - Brass, Copper, Zinc, Aluminium.

Metal Specification

Steel to BS EN 10152 Grade DC 01 or DC03
Tin Plate to E2.8/2.8 temper T57 to spec BS EN 10203
Aluminium to spec BS EN 485: 1993 AW 5251 H22
Stainless steel grades 304 or 316 Brass and Copper must be good commercial quality

Construction

Welding Gas to BS 693 Welding Arc to BS5135 Spot Welding to BS1140 Seam Welding to BE6265 Rubber Gaskets to BS2752

Primary Protection

Zinc plate, hot Aluminium spray, hot Zinc spray, Galvanized, Tin Plated or Phosphate primers
Pre-treatment Primer ( etching primer) to Def Stan 80-15 when required
Under coats to Def Stan 80-124 Top Coats to Def Stan 80-25.
Watertight containers are manufactured to spec L9994 if required.
